WINGS: A Multigrid Workflow Engine

Abstract


In the last years, grid workflow systems have been developed in order to make the migration to the Grid easier. Some initiatives have appeared proposing different approaches with specific features. Recent workflow initiatives have been analyzed finding interesting features but also some lacks. The main problem found was the difficulty to add new middlewares to the workflow engines. This paper proposes an alternative providing new features, focusing on multigrid and extensibility capabilities. The workflow system developed is based on the definition of a workflow modeling language named WINGs. The system proposes a data-flow oriented workflow engine with the addition of some control structures to complete de functionality.
